Myself and my missus both smoke, probably about 20 per day each... that's 40 fags per day for 365 days or 14,600 cigarettes per year.

At a cost of £8 per pack (for Bensons) that's a whopping £5840!!!!!!! per year.

So I popped on a ferry (£35 return) and bought 16 x 450gram buckets of tobacco, enough to make 12,800 cigarettes, and 15,000 empty cigarette sleeves........... for £440, that's a £5400 saving :ooo: not quite enough for a whole year but I don't mind going back every 6-9 months for that kind of saving.

If you're a smoker and can't face quitting then it might ease your pain/pocket by getting on a ferry.

Just thought I'd share.

You can buy a lot of ProV-1 balls with that....
If you gave up, you could buy a new driver too

I'm hoping to save that much and not quit  Probably couldn't afford to smoke if I was paying £8 per pack in the shops.

i have recently had to pack in due to medical problem and to be fair only smoked 10 a day but bought one of those electric cigs from tesco for £6 complete with a load of refills well worth it.

I am too tight to spend £8 ish on a packet of fags so have converted to vaping also........

There was something in the paper yesterday pertaining to 'vaping' and how there is a lack of research into the long term health implications and how it should be used only 'medically'. Didn't really have any other details though.

They contain anti-freeze

im not a smoker but have experiance of rolling tobaco and them pesky stupid fiddly ciggarrete sleeves. my dad smokes roll ups no filters

I gave up cigarettes 7 years ago.......then started smoking Cuban cigars at over £200 for 25

I'm rubbish at rolling them.... and unless you put a filter in too they taste like acid poo.

my dad reckons old holborn nae filters is better for you (less chemicals)and no saltine??? i think so he says, at a recent health check the docter said he has the heart lungs liver of a 20 year old (he is 65)

The E-cigs i use, & have been using succesfully for a while now, contain propylene glycol.
THIS IS NOT THE ANTI-FREEZE you buy in Halfords. It is in fact a food additive E1520 and used extensivly in toothpaste and mouthwash.

Sorry if this seems like a bit of a rant, but compaired to the crap in tobacco these things really are a much healthier alternative.
I know i feel much fitter:whoo:

started champix 4 days ago, slowly cutting down and my quit date is this friday!!! will save approx £100 a month but doing it for the health reasons most of all :)

Of course they want them pescription only - it will make them harder to get hold of and therefore the governement wont lose so much tax income as people go back to the real thing.

I can see it in a few years - i will have to pop to the continent to get my duty free vapes!

Imagine how much I've saved then having never smoked! Or would have saved if I'd put all my ciggy money aside over the last 48 years.....:)

There's always something else to spend it on though.......

3 weeks into giving up cold turkey.....first week was horrible, sleepless nights all the rest. not going back now....

still going to have have my cuban on special occasions mind....

the only possible benefit i can see to rolling your own is the option of adding a little something extra to jamaica up your day

Just bought one as well. Only a week in but no real cravings for a normal one
