I’ve taken a shine to the new 915 Driver from Titleist, but if the Mrs knew I was coveting one she would promptly and mercilessly remove my tackle, probably with my gap wedge. She has a hell of a short game.

One of the factors that makes the 915 attractive to me is the stock 45” shaft length. Size isn’t everything, it’s what you do with it that counts. Having had a swish, it feels so much more comfortable and controllable. Playing yesterday, one of the guys I was out with had an old Cobra driver that was approx. 45” and putting by the side of my G15 felt so much better. Didn’t hit the thing but you see where I’m going. Now, I’m not really interested in cutting shafts down (or gripping down further – I already do this) so I’d like to give a shorter driver a go, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Now, perhaps I would give up some yardage, (being a GM former I carry it 300+ anyway so that’s no heartache), but I crave more accuracy and if a 45” shaft would support this, then I definitely want to give it a bash.

My question is this, other than the 915, what other drivers in the last 5 years or so come with a stock 45” shaft? I know the new Adams XTD does, but again that would take me in to castration territory. So, any other drivers come to mind?

Love and admiration….

shorter shafts usually mean better control- try the Ping Rapture V2 great driver and you'll get one for about £60 these days, get the Diamana blue shaft one and not the Ping stock shaft.

or....

man up and tell your wife you bought a club for your hobby with your money- forum seems full of people in oppressive relationships

I, honestly, don't get the whole 'Don't tell the wife" attitude

Perhaps that's just me :D

915 is a really good driver. The range I use has the full range and shaft fitting trolley to boot. The stock Rogue black shaft is pretty good too

Go and buy one, and buy your good lady a little something to soften the blow.

Bought a 910 after struggling with a fade and the shorter shaft has made a big difference. I've had no noticeable loss of distance and my accuracy has improved greatly.

I recently bought a 913 head and there's a very marginal improvement. The 915 may be a slight improvement over the 913 but I'd still be happy to play the 910 as they are all good solid drivers

I had a go at it last month down the Range and got fitted with one , it has arrived at the shop and i just need to pick it up , been too busy at the moment to get down to Parkstone GC to get it and try it out round the course , I was longer and once we sorted which shaft and loft options straighter too , look to get my handicap down next year ..................

That's the beauty of getting up early in the mornings.
Anything I buy, I get delivered to work. Bring it home in the car and leave it in there overnight.
Get up early doors and nip outside and add it into my bag while she is still upstairs snoring and farting.

Titleist 910 or 913 are both 45" in length.

I know where you are coming from, my driver is 44.75" long, I do find more fairways with it than I used to.

However it seems a bit mad to buy a new club for a lot of money when the primary reason is to try it at 45". You could achieve it by chopping .75" off your own club, probably for the price of a grip from your pro.

If you just want a new club, then have at it.
