Having an absolute mare for his second round - out in 46 I think and last I heard was about 13 over for his second round after 12. Shame after his excellent start yesterday, but at least he hasn't walked in yet ;)

It was indeed, but am genuinely disappointed for him. So many great memories of watching him play. One of the nicest guys too - remember him signing loads of autographs at a European Open at Walton Heath in the mid-to-late eighties and having time for everyone who wanted to speak to him. Also not great how he's been treated with regard to the Ryder Cup captaincy.

Perhaps he put too much pressure on himself in his interview after his first round he said he was going to try and win.Fair enough but maybe he should have kept it under his hat and said he would take each round as it comes instead.

Saw him hack out of the flowers behind 12 and back into the water.

Looked as though he had given up......again. At least it was sunny so he didn't walk off.

Even when big Lyle was at his peak he always seemed a bit lackadaisical.

He had so much talent but seemed to give up pretty easily if things weren't going his way.

Had the pleasure of spending some time with him in his heyday watching hims play without any ropes holding us back. A real gent and a shame to see him in such strife today. Maybe the pressure got to him. Either way its no fun watching anyone struggling with their game.

Sandy Lyle and Dean Robertson played round my course a couple of years ago. Lyle was actually a bit of an arse didnt even sign the visitors book. Dean Robertson couldnt have been nicer, he hung around in clubhouse unitl closing time then went onto a party at the chairmans house until 3 in the morning.
