Hi everyone, I have a set of benross hot speed 2 irons. I've loved them but recently I have gone off the black head which are also pretty worn and would like to go to a bare metal finish. I've been thinking about sand blasting them back to bare metal and then treating them with some kind of anti corrosion stuff.

Has anyone done this? Does it work? Will it affect the club's performance in any way? Is it worth it?

Apologies if wrong section, I'm on my phone at work and have terrible signal and already had this page loaded.

Many thanks,

Tom.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me.
Benross irons should be pretty cheap 2nd hand.

I dont see a problem in doing it, obviously take care around the ferule, i would imagine they would rust though, not sure of the material. What kind of finish are you after? a raw metal? I cant see it having any adverse effect on performance though. Do it! and take pics!

Sand blasting will remove too much material. Bead blasting is safer and is what I would do. Tape up the ferrule and the cavity or back of the club if you want to preserve that.

Thanks for the input everyone,

I've got a windy gun at work, so going to take my Sandwedge in as it's the most worn and use a light scotchbrite pad and see of I can rub it back to bare metal. Use it for a few rounds to see if it deteriorates or corrodes, if not Il do it to the full set.

Not sure I'd bother. Seems a lot of work and I'd be concerned about damaging the club and not sure about how you'd then weather proof it again. If you have this sort of bent, and I know lots of people that like tinkering with clubs, then enjoy

I ended up using a ultrafine scotchbrite pad and the club look awesome, rust may be a problem but I will try my beat to keep it dry and clean, also the kids are getting me a new wedge for Xmas so if it does rust it won't cause me too much grief.

can anyone help me load photos using my phone? Keeps saying upload failed?

Thanks, Tom.
