I've just upgraded from iPhone 4S to 5s. Not a lot of difference but still an excellent phone. Samsung s4 is suppose to be good but feels cheap compared to iphone IMO. Guy at carphone warehouse said he went from iPhone to samsung but sold it & bought another iphone.

Always iPhone for me.. I went from 3GS to the 4, then tried 5 but contract was bad so moved to pay as you go Samsung S3. Nice phone but just wasn't as well built as the iPhone. When the 5S came out I shipped the samsung in eBay and bought it sim free.

Slow motion video is a great feature on 5S

As a user of the iphone for several years I am just waiting for my contract to end so can get rid of the 5, i upgraded from the 4s but apart from being a tad faster and slightly bigger there is no difference.
Battery life is appalling and I have to leave a charger in my car, office and at home and has a habit of freezing quite regular, took it into apple and they checked it and changed it straight away no charge

Have you considered the S4 mini? Much better size than the S4 as it actually fits in your pocket, and is also cheaper. Had mine for 8 months now and can't complain

Have you looked at the HTC One - its a very very competent phone, smart too! - I've never really seen the attraction of I-phones particularly with the price which being the best part of £600 is crazy, the fact they are so easy to break and the sticky home buttons!
plus the fact they are out of date in 12 months!

I've got an 8gb Motorola Moto G. Had it a couple of months now and I'm very happy with it. Runs on the latest Android release, KitKat, great screen and superb battery life. I read a lot of reviews saying the camera wasn't up to much but for what I use it for I dont see anything wrong with it.

I got mine from Tesco for £99, think they are £110 now.

Erm...The same can be said for just about any smartphone.

Most of the big players flagship models are pretty good these days and after the basic industry givens, it comes down to a few personal requirements.
Battery life/ability to swap
Screen size
Connectivity and how to get pics/music on and off it.
Personally, I am sold on Android having had a few iphones in the past. Having a couple of extra feature buttons etc makes yhe likes of the samsung/htc devices that bit more usable getting from app to app and everything in between using the context menu button and back button which isnt always visible on apple products onscreen.
Having a predominantly plastic device does not bother me whatsoever. Functionality over form for me and stilll enjoy using my year old galaxy note 2.
Each to their own though.

I've always had iphones since the 3G and wouldn't change. Sure other phones have higher spec and more features but I've never had any issues with the iphone. Everything works nicely synced with my macbook too.

I know a lot of people that changed away from iphones to android devices that regretted it after a while.

Tried the S4, hated it, sold it on Ebay and went back to my iPhone4, then just when I thought I'd escaped using the S4, work changed from Blackberries to Galaxy S4 Mini's, what a truly awful <expletive[SUP]n[/SUP]> phone

Had iPhones for a few years now, so far never broken one, never seen this sticky home button issue you mention, and my 4s is now 2 years old and going strong running the latest OS.

Sticky home button is an easy fix with a can of compressed air and a cleaning swab thing. Haven't done it myself but know someone who has.

ios is by far the easiest and most intuitive out there. I may be wrong but don't you have to have anti-virus on android phones?

I had the iphone a couple of years ago, but switched to an Android (HTC) and wouldn't go back. If you're a mac user then an iphone makes sense but for me just having a normal pc the android is a better phone. Hated itunes with a passion, and didn't like how the bluetooth was locked down on the iphone.

Iphone - easy to use, standard layouts across the range, less customisable, beautiful design, tied into apples vision which is quiet closed, legal for use as a golf GPS.

Samsung S4 - More of a learning curve to the interface, more customisable and able to get a layout you want rather than being forced into a layout the company want you in, basic functionality same across all android platforms but some features vary across the range of android devices. Tied to Googles vision which is more open but does leave you more open to viruses if not careful with apps and internet browsing. illegal as a golf GPS.

I'd broaden horizons and take a look at the Xperia. It's a beautiful phone and waterproof.
