Samsung 40" 3d smart tv with integrated wi fi

Thinking of upgrading our tv to the above.
I have a Virgin set up with a Tivo.I only use Catch up and sometimes record stuff .Never use on demand.
Am I correct in thinking I could do without the Tivo?
Any advice appreciated.
