Just heard text read out from someone who ate his first salad at the age of 26yrs - and he says he now rather likes salads. So what unusual salads have you had that might baffle our 'first timer'?

My contribution? Well (and I don't know if this is a Scottish thing) - my family (parents, cousins, aunts and uncles) used to (and some still do) sprinkle sugar over their lettuce. And yes - I used to do that as well - plated and in sandwiches.

And they tell me that Scots have weird dietary habits?

Never had a salad in my life, and I'm an old bugger!
I don't like any of the constituent parts except hard boiled eggs! Oh, and tomatoes .............. so long as they're grilled.

Slime.

Can't beat a good salad with Kebab meat served in a fresh Pitta bread, topped off with chilli & garlic mayo

I teach wee bairns how to grow things.
They like growing lettuce and salad stuff but many say they never eat it at home.
I got their attention once when I ate a nasturtion flower head and they now like tasting the different salads/herbs/veggies we grow.

I like a good salad but seldom eat one when dining out.

I love salads. When you have a Braai there are always loads of different salads knocking about to compliment the meat. You can't have a good steak without a rocket and Parmesan salad with some Malden sea salt and a balsamic glaze drizzled over it. Yum.
