Ryder cup at Augusta?

Would you like to see it, or should it just be kept for the masters only?

Imagine the ups and downs of the ryder cup around that course though!

As a course yes - but not with the "Augusta Committee" running it

Because the "Augusta Committee" have made it one of the most successful events in sport!?

Anyway, Ryder cup is run by the PGA and Euro tour I think.

Would be a great course to host it though, so many birdie chances on the back 9.

They also have it a closed shop for tickets and television viewing

4 hours live golf a day for a golf event which has over 10 holes of life golf - supposed to be a major and appeal to everyone and they deny people the chance to watch as much as possible. I guess there must be something wrong with the front 9 as we hardly ever get to see the players playing it

Closed shop for tickets? I could buy one for the weekend now if I wanted to pony up the money!

I've watched plenty from the front 9 tonight, as have you from your comments on the other thread?

Anyway I won't help,you degenerate another topic......

Great course for matchplay but not for the RC.

We see Augusta every year at it finest. Not sure what it's like in October, there won't be many flowers out though.

RC is only in the US every 4 years so I'd prefer to see it played at different courses that we might not see otherwise.

It would be brilliant but sacrilegious!

It's a great course and the folks there certainly know how to run a great event.

But I don't imagine it ever happening as I'd have thought the Augusta Committee would not like to lose the exclusivity of the Masters being the only big event there.

I wonder if we'd get a huge shock seeing the course out of 'season'

Could just be one big goat track! Albeit a manicured goat track but still :D

would it work if the Augusta folks wanted to maintain control? Can you see them letting the USA team dictate how the course should be set up for a Ryder Cup????

Won't happen. The committee would never relinquish control on TV rights and want to run it all. Not sure it's actually that great a course for matchplay and I'd rather it was kept purely for the Masters.

Having said that i do like the way the PGA of America generally (with the odd exception) take the Ryder Cup to the US' more venerated, traditional courses rather than flogging the hosting rights to the highest bidder. What about Pebble Beach?!
