Hi

I played in my schools oldest competition against the local golf club today and I couldn't help feeling a bit like a lamb to slaughter!

I was playing for the staff, not the best for starters, and I was sent out 1st.

However, I was playing with a golfer off 10 and I was off 12, and we were playing the Professional, off scratch not surprisingly, and the Captain off 7.

The only was to sum it up is, on the 15th we were 3 down, and my partner was 4ft from the hole for birdie and I was 18 inches for a birdie, not given…, and neither off us putted as the pro sunk a 40 footer for an eagle! End of match!

The only positive was I drove the ball further than the pro by about 15 yards! :D :D :D

But he was 15 yards straighter :( :( :o

Has this happened to anyone else?

At my old club they had a Captain/Pro challenge. Once a month they took on a pairing in 4BBB. Me and my doubles partner were the only ones that won - we took them 4&3.

Doesn't sound a whole lot of fun especially if they aren't giving 18 inch putts. Put it down to meeting two good players who gelled on the day.

I wouldn't give an 18" putt either in those circumstances.
