having asked about traveling to Ireland, we have found somewhere so attempted to change the flights. Which you can. However, the flights online through the website are £20 each going and £25 each return. £90 total. But do it through manage my booking and they want £50 each to go and £60 each to return, £220 total. More than Double the price for the same seat. plus they want £120 to change our names. so £210 goes up to £340.

Stinks.

The reason for expensive name changes is obvious, to stop people buying cheap tickets in any name and then selling them for a profit to someone else when the same flights are more expensive.
I don't understand the rest.

can understand that myself, but we looked online to see what flights dates and times are and prices. but the prices shown are £130 cheaper than booking through "manage my bookings".

Don't change the flight book new ones if cheaper.

it is val but what happens is the £250 that we paid for flights to Portugal is knocked off the price of flights to Knock. If we don't change the flights we lose £250. so i think this is why the flights have gone up on MMB by £130. The original £90 plus £120 plus bag and golf bag took it over £250 so i expected to pay some extra. missis T is a good bit better so she will be making a phone call tomorrow.

I'm not following you, do you have a multi city trip and suggest missing part cancels other flights?

Ryanair don't book returns or connections, every segment you book is an individual flight so if you don't take the first flight your second one still remains intact unlike say BA who if you don't take flight 1 cancel the rest. For example I'm going to Dublin and fancy an earlier outbound, I can book a fresh outbound cheaper than changing to the earlier one on my original and become a no show and because Ryanair but as singles I do nothing with my inbound flight

No it is a direct flight
what we did Val was book a weeks hols to portugal to leave this saturday, coz missis T has not been well we looked to rebook the flights. Initial flight cost £250. you can change your flights on manage my booking and they will take the £250 off your new booking. But they charge £30 pp per flight = £120 no probs plus new flight cost, but Ryanair have put the price of the flights up by £130 on MMB as again just booking them direct. If i book through MMB it costs £410 total.
If i do it on there site direct it costs £90 flights plus £70 for bags but i lose £250 from the original flight.

In essence MMB, £220 flights + £120 + £70 bags= £410 Total- £250 already paid .£160 tashyboy has to pay
Ryanair Direct £90 flights = £70bags = £160 plus already paid £250 ( which i lose) =£410.Total

my gripe is why charge £90 and £220 for the exact same seats

They have a business model that works unless you want something that is not basic.

In this case you want to make big changes to a flight, something even BA charge over 100 for.

Can't see any reason to complain here though. I'm sorry your wife is ill and this situation is not helping.

Sometimes you need to just roll with it, it's a risk to book with airlines like this in the first place.

A bit like not taking out insurance just in case nothing happens. Book with a more expensive airline but have some reassurance that if things go wrong you can rely on them.

I hope your wife gets better soon and you get this sorted in a way that you can feel better about.

I found it cheaper thru manage my booking on my current trip.

The day before we flew out I was double checking everything and realised we only had 2 luggage between 4 adults and 2 children and decided we needed one more. The website wanted £30 per bag per flight, went on the manage my booking and paid just £15 per bag per flight, no idea why.

It's Ryannair. It's how they work. Only ever used them once when they were the only ones flying to where I wanted to go but otherwise I am able to avoid them. They don't do customer service, they do cheap and simple. As soon as you veer off line they crucify you. Part of the deal with them I'm afraid.

I find it really hard to criticise Ryanair - when you book them you know exactly what you're getting, cheap flights. It's the only reason to use them. I fly with them quite a lot, as long as you play by their rules then things pretty much run like clockwork. I totally agree that their customer service is non-existent but you hear horror stories from just about every airline. For me Ryanair and Easyjet are a godsend, they fly from regional airports near me and, to date, they've got me where I want to go on time and at a reasonable price. I'd hate to use them for long haul though.

Cant disagree if im honest.

Ryanair and Easyjet get slaughtered frequently for their fees, everyone knows what they are before booking and more often than not even with fees their flights tend to be the cheapest.

Easyjet for me are one of the best short haul/domestic carriers about. I've yet to have a bad experience with them. BA could learn a lot from them about domestic shuttles from Scotland to London.

Is this a perfect example of people wanting everything cheap?

It's all part of their business model wether you like it or not.

Used to travel regularly Edin - East Mids by Easyjet or Edin - Birmingham by FlyBe. Both were great if you wanted to book early online to get a good price on the seat. You just had to be sure that your dates & times were exactly what you needed. Later changes often cost a lot more than the original booking did. Part & parcel of their business model as has been said. Try to book a seat for the following day and you'd pay through the nose.

I agree with this up to a point but what annoys me is on routes where they have a monopoly the flights are anything but cheap yet the service remains as poor as ever.
