Ryan Gauld

Off to Sporting Lisbon on a 6 year contract with a £48m buy out clause.

Wow that's a lot, but they have a bit of a reputation for spotting young fitba talent.

I had this conversation with DCB and StuartD....I am amazed at the cash that has been quoted. Admittedly I have only seen him live twice and many times on the box but I just don't see it.Possibly I catch him in bad games but all the luck in the world to him I really hope he develops into the star that Jackie Mac is touting him to be.

Better move than heading down to a Championship side I would say.Let's hope the kid kicks on.

Tend to agree with you on that one, good but not outstanding.
Mind you 50 games for Dundee United at the age of 18 shows he must have something.

£3mil for a teenage is about right for someone who has the potential to be a lot better in the future

The release clauses they put on are just for protection in case he does explode like previous players have done

It's a good league to develop talent

Or they don't have much else ;)

Must admit anytime I seen him on the tellybox he was average at best. Best of luck to him though and hopefully he can crack it

I just don't get the hype with all the United kids, when the Dons played them we smashed them, our kids looked so much better yet nothing in the press.

Having been royally horsed by both teams, and seeing them both at least three times each last season, I feel I can speak from a position of authority. The Arab lads are a cut above, especially Robertson/Gauld and McKay Steven,

Good luck to Gauld

I would agree re Robertson. My opinion of the other 2 is not as glowing as Robertson.

i'll admit that i've never seen him play particularly well other than little flashes, i'll concede that he must have something if much more knowledgeable people than me are recommending him so strongly.

i hope that this is the start of a new trend where good you scottish players develop abroad rather than wither on a championship bench or on my team's (ahem a more prominent SPFL team) bench

was delighted when i heard about this move, really hope it works out for him
