Anyone played it?Personally I'd never heard of it until last night.

Would appear to be an attempt at a luxury golf hotel that timed it badly with the financial downturn, so no hotel built but the course is operating.

Sounds too good to be true with good conditioning and £25 at the weekend, looking for a wee pointer from anyone who's played?

I've always whistled further on to West Linton proper - a raelly good course.

I think it was converted Farmland but the Farmer/Developer died.

Good to see they've made progress though. They were still struggling with Planning etc when I was last near.

Not sure whether they were typical, but the holes I saw were pretty bland and flat.

Not worth the effort I'm afraid. Not the best piece of land or layout. Portacabin changing last time I was there.

I was a member there for a year before joining West Linton. Strange place - I'd turn up on a glorious day in the middle of summer and it would be deserted. I think the membership was less than 100 when I was there. No idea what it is now.

Foxy is right, it was converted farmland which the landowner sold on to Manor Kingdom property developers before he died. The plan was to build a hotel and luxury housing and turn it into a resort. However, when the credit crunch crunched, it all went quiet on that front.

I think they finally have a new clubhouse now and the course looks in reasonable nick when I see it from the road but I haven't set foot on it for 4 years, so can't really vouch for its quality. I can, however, count on one hand the number of times I've seen anyone else playing it and I pass it every single day. That suggests to me that it's not exactly a big draw.

I wouldn't hurry to play it but then I don't have to, as I can roll onto West Linton whenever I want and it's 2 minutes from my door. If you're looking for a game down this way, I can sign you on for less than £25 and it's a better course.

I've changed in some pretty posh Portakabins - Dundonald for example!

Shame about the rest though. In that neck of the woods, it should be done well or not at all imo.

West Linton is defo worth playing imo,

In reality it was a project that was always going to struggle. It must be around ten years or so since it opened and at that time it just wasn't ready for play. Given it's location it really is only playable May- Oct as outwith that period the weather is a major factor. West Linton, just up the road is a far better option for anyone looking to play in that area.

When I was up west Linton in June I noticed this course and looked into it and really couldn't find much info

Personally play west Linton lovely course and I can get on cheap with been a member at goswick :)

Cheers for the replies.I'm now intrigued to the point I'm gonna give it a try.Being quiet is a major bonus and not necessarily a pointer for being poor, old farm land doesn't bode well but we've not had any rain for a while so that shouldn't be an issue this weekend.

Will report back, and mcbroon, thanks for the offer, but I'm 1/4 of a nomadic fortnightly 4 ball.
