from seeing the Whisky thread got me thinking of who on here is a Rum drinker and what's yer favourites?

As a Scotsman it's probably sacrilege that I prefer Rum over Whisky but it just tastes sooo much better!!!

Also how do you have it? I like in mixer(coke or Ginger beer) or on the rocks but neat is mainly too tough for my delicate buds.

Favourites of mine:

Ron Zacapa
Diplimatico Reserva
Havana 7

Prefer darker rums to your white but a bacardi and coke can be nice too.

Woods 100. Close the thread

not tried that, but Ron Zacapa, allegedly comes from the tears of angels. First came across it as part of a desert in Alma de Cuba resturaunt in Liverpool. It was served with home made fudge and espresso coffee. Lordy Lordy. The rum is microwaved for 8-10 secs. It is silky smooth.
Anyway, I looked at buying a bottle and they were the best part of sixty odd quid. I thought stuff that. Then one day the good Lord God smiled upon me. I had had a good weeks wage so went shopping in Tescos and what was sat there but three bottles of Ron Zacapa at £32 each. I asked a guy in the beer aisle why were they half price. " because all the local druggies keep coming in and knicking the stuff coz it's about the dearest bottles on the shelf". He then asked me the oddest question, " how much is your shopping coming to". "Eh, er £25 "well spend another £5.01 and you get a £5 voucher off spending over £30. Come back and buy a bottle of Ron Zacapa for £32 less a fiver. Me legs were like scooby doos. I paid for me shopping got a voucher and I bought a bottle for £32 less £5 and the woman gave me another voucher so I bought another bottle, went to another til and another woman gave me another voucher so I bought 3 X bottles of Ron Zacapa for 3 X £27 each. Still got a bottle and a half in me medical kit 😜

And your address Tashy?

Navy Neaters takes some beating, it's the nearest you can get to the Rum given out by the Royal Navy in the past. Woods 100 is also good.

Always keep a bottle of Havana Club 7 year in the cabinet. Takes me right back to getting engaged whilst in Havana, smoking Cohibas and drinking neat rum. A real walk down memory lane.

Spiced Rum for me - always have a bottle of Captain Morgans in the cupboard

Gonna have to surprise the missus and get a bottle of Havana Club after reading this thread. Like Bluewolf I've got some great memories of Havana city, what a place. Rum and coke with Buena Vista Social Club on the speakers, does it get any better?

Not a regular rum drinker myself but a lot of my friends who do swore by Appletons. I have got a bottle of Goslings Black Seal in the cupboard which I might investigate over the holiday. If anyone finds themselves in Barbados I can recommend the Mount Gay distillery tour & tasting session.

Sounds great to me.

Spiced rather than white for me too. Love a few Havana 7's with coke and Captain Morgans with lime and ginger beer. Ventured onto Gin recently but still love a drop of rum on a night out.

Appletons is nice but there is that many differant appletons you are better off with a dearer one if drinking neat.
