Had a 70yd approach shot to the green from the fairway, practicing the shot next to my ball with a wedge . . . . . whoops!! caught the ball with the toe of the club on a practice swing, ball rolls 15 yards off to the right, penalty ?

No penalty just counts as a shot, and a reminder to practice a little further from the ball

Dont think so, just play the ball where it has come to rest unless oob then you would retake shot from original position with the usual shot penalty

Question:- A player makes a practice swing and accidently moves his ball in play with his club. Has he made a stroke?


Answer:- No. He had no intention of moving the ball. However, he incurs a penalty stroke under rule 18-2a for moving his ball in play, and the ball must be replaced.

Ok, thanks, but different on a tee shot ?

If you haven't addressed the ball and you accidently knock it off the tee with a practice swing it's no penalty.
Just replace and give it a smack.
