In last months mag Jezz interviewed David Rickman on the rules changes , page 81

In question 4 regarding hazzards & raking bunkers etc , i quote DR as replying " and given that players can dig their feet in anyway prior to making the 1st stroke theres realy no advantage to be gained "

Roll on to this months mag , test your knowledge page 81 scenario 2 . " in a bunker Paul pushes down a large amount of sand with his foot in an effort to get more level stance" .. ruling = paul is penalised 2 strokes for building a stance ..

When does digging your feet in cross over the rules & become a rule infringing building a stance ??

You're allowed to dig your feet in to provide a steady base but not so much that you're levelling your stance.
Tricky to be sure but I think most will know when they've crossed the line.
In the pic Paul has built up quite a mound under his foot - he's a bad Lad that one...!!

I can't be bothered to build a stance in a bunker - just more to rake up. It's a pretty fine line but I think if you change the angle of your stance in the bunker then you have broken the rule.

I think the difference between taking your stance and building a stance would be fairly obvious and you would know when you were crossing the line
