What an utterly boring and pointless match.

Made even more boring and pointless by John Hawksworth commentating.....comfortably the worst commentator in world golf.

How do you even qualify for it? 3 Scots leading the team off today says it all about the standard of player.

I am just hoping Paul Lawrie bites the bullet and snaps a club in 2 and livens things up.............go on Paul let it out!!:thup:

I just came on to ask the same thing? What is the point of this event, another point less matchplay event that isn't ever going to be as big as the Seve let alone the Ryder Cup.
 
Just something for the Asian fans. Promotional event to try and encourage more interest over there. Especially as Europe are getting beat by them.
 
Just turned back to it after MOTD and it aint any more exiting!

Weird look with the brown putting surfaces though.

Got a little bit more interesting as the Europeans make a late fight of it
 
Why are people complaining about the Royal Trophy ?

It's just a semi serious tournament to link two tours together for a week

It's harmless and certainly better than the tosh being served up over in the States with shootouts and father and son stuff

Normally there isn't anything on the week before Xmas so at least there is some golf to watch

And whats the point of that , we have to many such events already ...............change is good
 
I assume that I am not alone in wishing that they made some new Pro Celebrity Golf with Peter Alliss on BBC and put them on at Christmas like they did in the eighties, I can't see it happening as the current top players probably wouldn't do it without getting vastly overpaid, which is a shame because I enjoy watching the few YouTube clips of this show and found it much more entertaining than the pointless, boring tournaments we are seeing at the moment.
 
I would prefer to watch the professionals as opposed to watching amateur celebs

And the Royal Trophy isn't pointless - it helps cement links between two golf tours
