Royal St Georges ends 150 year "no women" rule

The optimist in me says well done for stopping this stupid out dated practice. The cynic in me says that they had no choice if they wanted to host an Open again, and if they did not have this threat over them, much like the R&A did from HSBC, nothing would have changed.

But whatever, good news for boys without a winkle everywhere.:)

This exactly!

Is it just me that thinks Its amazing how it wasn't 100% in favour.

Don't surprise me - still plenty of dinosaurs around

Today had an argument with 4 fossils who wouldn't let two ladies through when they were clearing holding them up !

Still too many of the dinosaurs around golf clubs

It's a problem with the game at grass roots level that so many clubs still have such elderly memberships, particularly when the game's poster boys & girls and role models are all in their 20s & 30s.

Our place is always trying to attract new younger members but with family life at it's most demanding in the 30s & 40s it's a real tough nut to crack.

I'm not sure RSG has too much of a problem attracting new members!

I'm sure you're right about that. Probably have a waiting list as long as the M4.

But it's more in relation to old dufferage that infests clubs up and down the country I'm talking about. That's where these bizarre attitudes are rife and getting younger people into clubs should help sweep this tomfoolery away.
