Never thought I would do this. Royal Musselburgh is in the top half dozen of the oldest clubs in the world, it dates back to 1774. However, the last couple of years it’s been struggling, like many other clubs to be fair.

But, just take a look at the Royals web site………you would think it’s shut and I’m afraid in this economic climate this club is moving one way, backward. I really do despair.

Was lucky enough to play the course in November and subsequently gave very serious thought to joining, but a couple of people warned me off due to infighting within the club and bizarre methods of getting a time in Medal competitions etc. Real shame if it does go. :(

They need to get their finger out and stop the inhouse bickering and get back on the right track. Surely a club of the standing and historical importance of Royal Musselburgh can't go to the wall.

I was a member there up until two years ago, but I found it to be very cliquey, the staff ( apart from the pro) to be indifferent or rude and difficult to get a time unless you were part of the right crowd.I liked the course enough, but had bad feelings about the place in general.I left with 4 others and joined kingsacre.

The homepage is the shop window for potential members and visitors... and it is plastered with old diary dates: open days from back in October and news dating back to the summer. It's generally agreed in website design that if you're not going to keep news items up to date, it's better to tuck them away.

Amazing clubhouse. Which turret do you sleep in Tommo?

Looks like a fantastic place to play golf. It would really be a great shame if clubs like this disappeared.

Apart from the outdated club news the rest of the site looks good.

Nowhere to to big not to fold, if they live in the past. Just look at all the football teams that thought they where to big to go down and down.

Crawford...........if you click on the faiway credit page, bottom left. At the top it has scramble comp from 2010, or annual dinner dance 2010. If you want to go it will tell you what to do. If you click on the course tab at the top you will get a course report tab at the bottom...........all well and good if it was 2012, but it's 2009.

The web site is littered with stuff thats out of date. The front page has the open day from last October, the last news letter was June 2011. There's no info on the winter league team who have not lost a game this season. I could go on.
