Well it appears my uncle has been hiding a secret from me

He has joined RCD to learn golf :whoo:

My other uncle who lives in Colraine can also get me onto Royal Portrush

So next May me and the OH are taking a trip to visit the relatives in N Ireland and for some golf

So we are going for a week and need some advice on other courses to play apart from those two ?

We have a little boys trip to RCD last week in April. Also playing Ardglass and Kirkistown Castle, and hoping to play with a couple of forumers who are members of the two courses.

Easy, as described above by others.

Royal Portrush, Portstewart and Castlerock are all very near one another.

Ardglass is the counterpoint to RCD, and after RCD you usually need a bit of a rest.

You lucky lucky boy, why do you need any other courses ?? Just playing those two will live forever in your memory.

Lee park, Liverpool - you can play for free, and I'll be your chauffeur for the rest of the week...worth a try.

You do realise Phil that Liverpool will get to the FA or champs lge final for the same weekend, now.:whoo:

So RCD and Royal Portrush Dunluce. Not a bad 2 days golf there. Add in The Valley links (part of Royal Portrush) and Portstewart Strand along with Castlerock and that'll keep you busy ;)

Another thumbs up for the Valley Links (Rathmore) at Portrush and I liked Castlerock a lot too.

If you are getting signed on to RCD and have some spare time then play the delightful wee Annesley Links (RCD's second course) too - do not go to Ballycastle when up north - nice clubhouse, awful course.

I wouldn't say Ballycastle is awful id say quirky to be honest , Portstewart Strand, Castlerock and defo The Valley and id throw in Ballyliffen well worth it if your in Portrush, also Ramores in Portrush for food

Take a little detour to contra wood! the first port of call for this years GM Irish craic classic. Well worth the trip. You get the privilege for a lot less than those other expensive links.

Ask anyone whose played it. Completely worth your while! still my favourite place to tee it up! 😃

Personally I'd play both twice, I've played rcd numerous times and feel first day to get to know it and the second to really enjoy it. Same for portrush, only played it once but would enjoy it better next time knowing it. It'll cost you £20 per round on each course. You're not going to get that value anywhere else
