Just noticed that there Open has been advertised on there website but at £50 this year i'll think i'll pass . I'm sure it was only £40 last year but that is a bit of a hike, think there trying to make the most of the Scottish Open going there.

Its a fantastic track and if your ever in the area then this a must play ,its a tough as it comes.

Yes, a great course. As is its neighbour, Murcar, where I was a member many years ago and keep meaning to return to for a nostalgic round. Both terrific links courses. (I'll not make any comparisons with Machrihanish Dunes in case there is a lurking craw ;))

Played Murcar once and loved it ,not everyones cup of tea but i really liked, we all played well that day so suppose that helps but keep meaning to go back but there Open always falls when i'm on shift.

Cracking big clubhouse as well, do they still have a ban on DMD'S there?

I couldn't tell you if there is or isn't a local rule in place allowing DMDs.

I'm dredging the memories and sifting out a couple of exhibition matches on Murcar and Royal Aberdeen. The players i recollect are Eric Brown, John Panton, and Tony Lima but who the others were and which course I saw which play are matters lost in the mists. Panton and Lima had the smoothest, grooved swings you could dream of, whilst Eric Brown stood up and lammed the ball as if it had misbehaved and deserved a thrashing.

The green fee is £120, and its "a must play." I wish I was closer, I'd happily pay the £50.
