Just unbelievable. Utterly horrendous.

The thought that those responsible and those in power that seemingly turned a blind eye are not going to suffer consequences to their liberty or career prospects makes me feel physically sick.

The findings of the report really are a genuine measure of how far wrong we are as a country.

Indeed.

How could they think that potentially being labelled as racist was somehow worse than being complicit in the cover-up of child rape? Of 1400+ children?

Fully agree, yet, just who is responsible for the culture of soundbite politics in which a career can be threatened just by the perception or accusation of being Racist/Sexist/Homophobic etc etc etc.. The lynchmob mentality which can be witnessed almost every week in British Politics has a lot to answer for..

However, in the short term, every single one of the "Public Servants" who were complicit in this horrific cover up should be tried and judged by a jury of their peers...

14,000........6 would be 5 too many but 1,400.

I hope they jail those who were in public office and were aware of this problem.

Council, police, publicans, charities, religious groups and other organisations.

The Yorkshire Police establishments covering up once again - nothing surprises again.

whilst not not defending anyone in power. I would imagine the outrage at which these claims if first made public would have faced. Just using this forum as a litmus test. When the issues of apparently celebrating eid were first talked about. For everyone 1 person saying it was a disgrace, there were ten saying said (1 person) was effectively racist.

the most important thing now is to hopefully help this poor souls over come it in some way. But I seriously hope this helps clear up PC England. As it appears the fear of being branded a racist has at least in someone kept the quiet.

And therein lies the problem. Some people are too stupid to realize the difference between a fact and a claim. It is a fact that the vast majority of abusers were men of Pakistani origin. It would be racist to claim that all Pakistani men are child abusers. It's not even a subtle difference is it?

Oh, and while we're at it, the problem with "offensive comments" needs to be addressed. We appear to have become a society in which if someone is offended by a comment, then the comment is deemed offensive. This attitude panders to the weak and stupid among us. A smarter person than I once said (and I paraphrase) - "Just because you're offended, doesn't make you right."
