Switches and lights and stuff on my 40yr old Rotel RX-402 Receiver are going - and I think there may be other issues as well as I'm getting 'fluttering' in my speakers when nothing playing (though that may be a problem with the speakers)

Is it worth spending £100+ getting it fixed when I can buy a good new budget one for £200.

I have no idea how the sound of these old amps stacks up against modern technology

Had to make that decision about an old Technics amp myself a couple of years back. I went for a new unit and the difference is night and day. Definitely worth buying a new unit.

No!

Time to upgrade!

Speaker technology (and pricing!) has moved on a bit too!
