As for him winning The Open no chance his not mentaly strong enough for that right now, I'd rather back my local club pro.

Agree if somebodys not wiping his **** he cant cope.

I must admit I am looking forward to watching Rory hacking it around Wentworth this afternoon i’m glad I put my money on Tommy now and not the "favorite".

His golf has gone down hill and his sullen attitude seems to surface every time he hits poor shots.

At 25 he needs to get a mature view of himself and treat others with respect; then the rest of the world might treat him will respect !!

He's got all the talent in the world but none of the mental strength needed to apply it.

The guy looks pretty cut-up at the press conference and I don't think is in a good place.. We all have had a woman mess with out heads.. Feel for him and hope he doesn't fall apart.

Rorys parents have destroyed his career and he's daft enough to listen to them, move on mummys boy its a big world out there...,
Its quite obvious that Mcilroy is being family controlled and its destroying his game

The bloke couldnt play golf and handle marriage let alone kids without his parents there wiping his @ss

I hope i'm wrong but I have a feeling we may have already seen the best of Young Rory

Couldn't give a monkeys about his private life, and it's none of my business anyway, but I do feel disappointed to watch his golf and see a pale imitation of what once was - and not that long ago either.

Is there a prize for listing post numbers? :D

No, but follow that link - or there's another that gets most of them! http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/search.php?searchid=1501066

It seems playing 'with freedom' is the way he plays best! So delegating everything to someone he trusts would seem to be the way to let him do that!

And Tommy, you missed my 'favourite' ....

'I hope he doesent make the cut at the PGA and drops outside the top 500 and leave elite pro golf to real people.'

I've spotted mine, still agree with it too. One swallow does not a summer make.

if he has a stellar season I'll happily admit it as i like the bloke. Just don't think he'll go on to world domination as was first predicted when he came on the scene.

Had a da great round yesterday, would like to see how he copes if he's under pressure on the back 9 of a major. That for me will show if he's back or not.

Hard to know if the OP is being sarcastic or not, but the tabloid-like incoherent use of the -gate term is always an indicator of drivel within.

Rory played great to win, and had shown good form all week. He is coping with life in the public glare very well, and with Tiger currently out of the spotlight, has attracted more than usual. His parents have done a great job with him, and he is a refreshingly normal and well adjusted guy. Unlike Tiger, whose parents helped turn him into the self-destructive narcissist he is today. He is not family controlled at all.

I assume most of that OP are the OP's issues reflected on Rory rather than the other way round.

The OP has taken posts made by members on another thread ( the Rory splits up with his gf ) and put them on here to highlight their views of him before he played the BMW.

Tommo he could win The Open............if it stay calm wind wise for the 4 days.

Otherwise, no chance.

I'd disagree about the wind factor, I followed him for most of his round yesterday at Wentworth and it was pretty windy and he controlled the ball really well.

If he gets his putter going like he did yesterday he will win a couple of times this year I reckon.

Wind on links and wind at Wentworth are two different things, miles different.

Yeh, little snippets from the Rory split thread, posted after he won the BMW. If you read the odd snippet you’ll notice how far off some of you were.

I love this one...... He's got all the talent in the world but NONE of the mental strength needed to apply it.

Aye I know that but his game is now maturing and he has the ability to play in conditions and on courses that he used to struggle in.

I think I would find it hard to think of a course, on this side of the pond, more suited to Rory's game than Wentworth!

On the other side of same pond, Augusta is similarly the course that seems most suited to his style.

Breezy links - when they actually are breezy, are probably the least favourable to his style imo. His 'no scores in the 70s' at St Andrews a few years ago is the sort of results I would expect from him at Opens.

Think you got it right about the wind

Rory has such a high ball flight - it's got to be a struggle on links course but he grew up playing them which is strange ?

If the wind is not too strong then he can power a course but he prob needs to add things like stingers to his game
