Rory now holds an 8 shot lead going into the final day at the US Open. So, after the wheels coming off in Augusta on the final day for him I was thinking...

What score would be enough for him on Sunday? Would going around in par be enough? Maybe 2 or 3 over par would be enough as there have only been 3 rounds this week of 65 - one of which was Rory's!

What do you think he needs to score on the last day?

I can't see anyone shooting better than 5/6 under, so I reckon 1 over should be enough for him.

He just needs to keep doing what he's been doing,Easy for me to say.

There is certainly potential for racking up a few doubles at Congessional but i think he can drop a couple of shots and win with sometjing to spare. Just hope JP can keep Rorys positivity going if things start to go awray - this wasn't the case at Augusta, they both need to be mentally strong.

Agreed- around level should do it bar a wonder round from someone else. Astounding play so far, but the 4th round is the biggy. I think he has to get off to a solid start and build from there. Augusta must be in his mind, so if he can turn in level or there abouts he'll not be far away. I really hope he does it, it may destroy him if he doesn't- i think it is that big

2 over should be good enough but I hope he doesn't play with that in mind. If he continues like Saturday - conservative on the tough ones and going for birdies where the risk is less I think he'll shoot a 2 under & win by 6.

His experience at Augusta will help him but it was very different. The course was set up for birdies and his lead was much smaller. He had to wait and watch the others go out and close in on him and hear the roars. That won't happen this time he will start with a big lead and should play safe but aggressive when possible.

Also the fact that G Mac is current champion will be a massive motivation to win this and take bragging rights.

10 under should be enough but think he will have plenty to spare.

Level par today will be good enough for him, but would love to see him go out and shoot a 65 or something what a way to win!!

He wants to maintain the same mindset and rhythm and go out there and blow away the opposition.

This is his big chance of putting himself firmly into the history books as being the one who took over the mantle as the most exciting young golfer in the world. This is his chance to blow Tiger out of the window and to rewrite the record books.

I sincerely hope he plays like he been doing and go on to win by a large margin and reap the credit his game deserves. The lad's been patient and surely deserves some glory, even if he is doing it "big style."

I think for his long term future success he needs to hit a good score - a 68 or 69 will prove that he's not just hanging on to win.

He doesn't want to leave here thinking he's going to need an 8 shot margin every time.

Level - but the worst thing he can do is go defensive and start trying to steer the ball around the course. Smack it hard at the middle of the greens with a bit of shape towards the flag and keep the putting going. No 3 putts in 3 rounds !!!!

Can't see Yang shooting low 60's so as long a Rory stays at par, Lee's going to have to murder Congressional to have a chance. -6 is the best score of the week so far.
Even if Lee shoots -8, Rors can still par in to win it.

10 under par will still win it tonight.

My magic ball (I'm on antibiotics for it) predicts Rory will shoot a 73 and win it by 4 shots.

There going to make the course much tougher for the last round, hide the pins away. So the chances of someone shooting more than 5 under is going to slim. And that would have to come from someone in the chasing pack.

If Rory plays positive off the tee and plays middle of the green golf he should walk it by 3-4 shots I think.

Paul the octopus (RIP) pointed his tentacles to a 70 about about 2 years ago when questioned on the leader's winning score on the last day at the 2011 US Open.

He never got it wrong. Bless him.

Looking at the scores (no sky) it would seem the course is playing easier today. I assume to give someone a chance to push Rory if he blows up again. Either he will or there will be one hell of winning margin. I recon it will be the later and -16 margin.
