Watched an episode of 'A league of their own' on Sky the other night and they had Rory on as a panellist. After taking the piss out of him for a while they got onto his US Open win. His team were was asked what helped Rory maintain his concentration during his win. The answer was that he sang songs in his head. Apparently the actual song that was going round in his hairy head was Set Fire to the Rain by Adele.

I have also had songs bouncing round my head when playing golf but I can't say that they have always helped me. I remember having a nightmare when I couldn't force 'More than a feeling' by Boston out of my head. Great song but it ruined me somehow. On another day I had 'My Body' by Young The Giant going on and shot the lights out. Can't explain it!

Does anyone have any songs they bank for good rounds?

Funnily enough I had Invisble Light by Scissors Sisters going through my head at FoA. HID had been playing the album on the way up and it just stuck. Normally it's a case of "tragedy or I'm caught in a trap"

Just see what happens when you think positively :)

THe song made diddly difference. I had a game plan that every hole over 400 yards was a three shotter and take my chances that I'd nick a few pars on the 5's and maybe the odd up and down on the par 4's. The other key thought was not to make silly bogies on holes I didn't get a shot on. Swing smoothly and stuck to the plan. I think the thing I need to takeaway is I never have that clarity of thought on my own course during a medal or stableford. Playing a new course blind meant I really had to think logically whereas I know where I can and can't miss on my own and so blast away without a game plan or thought.

I'm almost always humming "Some kind of Nothingness" by the Manic Street Preachers.
It's a fairly mellow song with a good rivvum!!

Seems to work most of the time..

I understand where your coming from Homer - I always seem to play better away from home. I think we become very complacent round our own tracks. Maybe there is something to this mind game after all  I think they'll have trouble getting through my thick skull though.

'Times Like These' by the Foo Fighters tends to be the track in my head at the moment and I often find myself humming it around the course.

I find myself singing or humming in my head whatever was playing when I stopped the car. Don't do it on purpose, it just sticks there until I listen to something else.

Just lately I've had Flo-Rida "Good feeling" bouncing around in my skull, I have no idea why???

Probably because little un' likes it :smirk:

i tend to hum when concentrating and have been known to sing when playing (unwittingly i may add)much to the dismay of my playing partners and it tends to be what ever song was on in the car as i get to the club as i listen to a local station could be any old tatt
