Rory McIlroy Targets 2 Majors

He is an extremely composed and candid interviewee. I think his target is not unreasonable. I wonder which 2 he fancies? (Augusta for one, obviously).

I think The Masters is on his "I owe you one" list and would be the most suited to his bombed high draw.

Good point.

Would you not think the Open would be on his radar?

I think he sees The Open with the low ball as not suiting his game, but he should already have one Masters and his game looks tailor made for it, and the limited field doesn't hurt either. I think the odds of Rory grabbing a Masters at some stage therefore have to be odds-on.

But Phil Mick's game didn't suit The Open either and he adapted to it and snagged one.

Now that he has the US Open and PGA, and 20 years to try, he has got to be looking at a career grand slam.

I've just been having a look at his odds for the four majors.

The Masters 12/1
US Open 16/1
The Open 25/1
PGA 16/1

To win any major in 2014 you can get 7/2.

I think the bookies have it right, The Masters seems most likely. He's shown before that he's got the game for Augusta and as said above, i think he'll be out to prove he can get the job done there after the collapse in 2011.

It'll be interesting to see how he starts the year. If he looks anywhere near the form of the end of 2012 he'll be below 10/1 for the Masters.

I think there are two things Rory still has to learn. The first is how to do what Tiger does and "win ugly" when he doesn't have his A game and the second is to learn to adapt his game when conditions dictate. Neither of these he has shown any signs of being able to do but he is still a kid and hopefully he will get it.

Has there been a season since Rory turned pro where he hasn't intended to play well in and win at least 2 majors?

It's a bit like the "Player X targets return to form" headlines we see in the papers and on the BBC website! Wait you mean Player X isn't happy playing like a numpty missing every cut?

7/2 in golf  one of the most unpredictable sports, not worth it at these odds imo

He seems to be wearing glasses a lot more often in photo's and video's now days, might have had something to do with his form...

I wonder if he is a contact wearer on the course.
