Rory is the new.........

Hopefully this will give him a boost for next season. He's been showing signs of improvement the last few weeks and to turn over Adam Scott in his own back yard from 4 shots back will do him the world of good. Plus the Aussies will be gutted that their "scotty" didn't win.

Nice one Rory

If Richard Finch wins in South Africa I'm not going to be happy.

I was going to bet on a double of Rory and Finch to win last night but fell asleep and forgot about it.

There were a lot of folk saying he was gone earlier this year.....stupid crazy people. You cannot hide when you have as much talent as this kid.

I am sitting watching the final round and it's superb with him and Scott trading blows,Real matchplay stuff and great to hear it was a mis club from New Zealands number one sportsman that looks to have cost Scott.

Watching the highlights here as well, the driving & iron play looks like it's getting back to where he wants it. Especially his distance control with the irons which was especially poor all year.

At least that means 2013 won't go down in the record books as winless!

Scary thing is that he didn't putt that great over the 4 days. If he clicks with the flat stick aswell we could see him clean up next year.

Hard to believe Scott didn't win this.....jesus he missed some putts to close the door, anyone would think he has a history of letting his ass hang out.

If he's missing these with the 'cheating-stick', he'll need to find something special when the new rule comes in!

I think he means the long putter which is at the moment perfectly legal.

Not for long though I'd have thought pros would be wanted to change ASAP so that when the law is in place it's not such a culture shock. Re Rory, one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that...........

Expect the pros are trying fifteen putters during practise. Also Scott could still use the same putter but without anchoring it.

And as for the comment about Rory and one swallow etc - I do believe he is way beyond one swallow with his wins over the years

A good comeback win from that far back although Scott did keep leaving the door open. BUT and its a big one, one victory no matter how good doesn't mask a terrible season and I would want to see how McIlroy contends at Augusta and the Open, where he hasn't always had the best of times, the US Open where he clearly has a good record, and how often he gets into contention on tour before saying he's back.

On the flip side he does look like he is swinging much better and I hope all the off course shenanigans and problems with his personal life get sorted, he gets managed better and moves on. He is undoubtedly an exceptional talent and nothing is better than watching him when he's on. I hope this is the first steps to a massive 2014. We'll see
