As a long standing devout Liverpool fan yesterdays 4.1 spanking of Utd in the theater of nightmares obviously gave me much needed delight.

On Match Of The Day the pundits commented on Rooneys comments of his hatred for Liverpool had harmed there cause.

Do you think this is true or once you cross the white line it doesnt matter?

It probably affected rooneys game as his head would be all over the place, lets face it, his 2 brain-cells must have been clattering together in a cloud of confusion.

He is a horrible cretin in my eyes to be honest and if he didnt play for Manure, he would spend more time sent off than playing I think.

As much as Im very much not a Liverpool fan, it was fantastic to see the surrey-reds get stuffed.

Cant wait to see who goes down, I think West Brom are gone, as for the other 2, Im praying it will be newcastle and portsmouth.

Yes I think your right Rooney had a stinker!!

West Brom are gone

Could be any 2 from the next 8 in the league.Newcastle are in trouble with a leaderless ship but I think they will just be o.k along with Portsmouth.

Im going for Boro and Stoke with Hull possibly being dragged into it.

I don't agree that Ronney had a stinker.
we were dreadful all over the pitch, I don't know what Vidic was thinking on the 1st goal!!!
At least Rooney had a bit of fire in his belly and was trying to get the rest of the team up for it.
say what you like about Rooney but his commitment is second to none.

Rooney's comments are based more on him being an Ex-Evertonian i would think. How many Bluenoses wouldn't say they hate Liverfool !!!

I love all the jibes that go on prior to games...some of it makes up for the sterile , non-contact handbags at dawn football we tend to see these days.

Everyone knows he hates Liverpool before he said it.

My post is about what Hansen And Shearer said about it affecting the team while firing Liverpool up and putting extra pressure on Man U.

I think the result would have been the same regardless if he had said it or not,we were well deserved winners yesterday.

Vidic was run ragged by Gerrard and Torres, he has had a great season though and any defender will have trouble when those 2 are firing on all cylinders, they have a great understanding.

Im surprised we are within 4 pts (7pts) seeing we have hardly had Torres match fit all season.

Man U will still win the league but I always fancy us in Europe with our recent record under Rafa in the Champs League

Rooneys comments saved Rafa a team talk and I'm sure Fergie will have told him not to say anything to fire up the opposition in the future.

Torres was unplayable and while it was a great result I still can't see Man U losing the title from here.

I think that fergie's team selection was wrong. I would have had Fletcher in all day long instead of Anderson( who I thought was poor) I just don't think the continentals have a proper understanding of the passion of these sort of games.
Liverpool HAD to win the game and I think it showed. They were first to every ball as they were at Anfield.
Vidic has been the most consistent player in the premier league all season, he just had an off day and should have headed the initial ball instead of letting it fall. Had he done that, the result would have been different.
The scoreline flattered Liverpool but they did deserve to win.

I expected nothing less from rooney, If you make a statement then you have to back it up on the pitch with a performance and he never done it.

Were was the world footballer of the year??

:)

I didn't hear what he said, whatever it was, I suspect the normal case of sour grapes.....

Until coming onto this Forum, I had no idea of the intense rivalry between fans at the top of our premier league.

I've followed LFC for 30 years and go to matches when I can.

When I watch other teams (regardless) I always pick one to shout for and have jumped for joy to see Man U, Chelsea, even Arsenal win certain games and 100% want all our domestic teams to win in Europe, even if those teams only have few domestic players.

The days of the magnanimous "they played well and deserved to win" have long gone. If we'd lost yesterday, I'd have thought "ok, so we lost to the better side today" but the insecure and tribal attitude of football fans is putting me off the whole sport.

I don't know what you all expect from Rooney TBH.
he's a footballer from a rough part of Liverpool.
what do you expect from him, deep meaningful thoughts and quotes.

If he said he never hated liverpool i'd be worried.

The point of the thread was after everything he said about hating liverpool etc he never put in a performance to back his comments up.

As for deep meaningful thoughts i dont think he's capable of any.

welcome to football reality. It put me off long ago, that and the whole blatant cheating, diving, spitting, handbag waving bunch that purport to be playing it.

not they they ever were angels. there were a lot of hard b*s 'played' the game over the years, especially the 'old pro' who after my dad (as a young semi-pro) had run rings round him for the umpteenth time, broke my dad's foot.

Hate is too stronger word for me, but I have an inherent dislike of many teams in the premiership. Most because of certain players, some because of the manager (Alardyce for example), and some due to geographical location.

And then there's Tottenham.

All? I dont think you read my post, 'I dont care what he has to say about anything', as a reminder.

In fact I dont care what most footballers have to say about anything, including football. In fact, when most footballers begin to speak it makes me proud of Rugby. ;)
