Not sure if this is in the correct place, but didn't think it fitted anywhere else.

Has anyone played Romsey Golf Club just outside southampton....what are your thoughts. Looks very short at under 6000 yards, but apparently is quite a tight course?

Played it last year. Funky. Throughly enjoyed it. It is short but interesting. They have made the most of the land available. Worth a visit. Very nice clubhouse and everybody we met made us very very welcome

Decent course, just don't go with the wrong colour socks...

Some very good holes, pretty much all very tight so what it lacks in distance it makes up for in positioning, and I think I'm right in saying its got the longest par 3 in the country

Were they quite particular about the socks you had to wear?

Going off your name...where do you play most of your golf?

Nice course. Played it a few times. Very tight but not overly long. An old style course in that it is subtle rather than using in your face hazards.

Havent played it for a while but intending to venture back at some point this year. The par 3 10th is a favourite of mine. Just a flick with a wedge but down hill to small, elevated, well protected green.

Played it a few times as I used to have a mate who was a member there. Some time ago now though!!
First couple of holes are a bit "meh" but it does get a little interesting later on in the round.

A mate of mine got chased down the first fairway by an angry senior as he was playing in shorts but didn't have knee length socks on  I wasn't there but I believe said gentleman was politely told to foxtrot oscar
I'm a memeber at New Forest, but play a few other local courses sometimes

it's a decent enough course, leave the driver at home!!
but doesn't strike me like that. it seems a pretty friendly place, much like the Mew Forest

Yeah, I was foxed by that longest par 3 in the country bit as well! Tis gonna take something to beat the 1st at Meyrick Park.

Meyrick Park 1st is beaten by..........

Meyrick Park 4th!! Off the plates it's 1 yard longer. The forum's very own Merv79 had an ace on it

Nothing over 200 yards Paul, are you thinking of the 1st? Shortest par 4 in the country :D

Strange. One of the guys I was playing with definitely told me there was something unique about one of the par 3, can't remember what it was though. Unless I'm just having my first proper 'senior' moment!

Glad to hear it has positive reviews from people on here, I popped in there this afternoon to have a look around as it is one of my options for becoming a member.

Stoneham is another one I am looking at....anybody have any experience of there?
