It just occurred to me with all the rolling threads we could probably do with a rolling thread to discuss rolling threads. :p

I'll get things started.

I think if we add

  • GPS\Rangefinders (Rolling Thread)
  • Slow Play (Rolling Thread)

to the existing rolling threads we'd probably cover 99% of everything that's discussed on this forum

So.....we condense 99% of discussion into about 3 threads?

Jesus please don't start a dedicated slow play thread, the repetition of "I got held up today....yadda yadda yadda" makes this place about as appealing as the waiting room at the clap clinic.

Agreed, but it is happening anyway, so would it not be nicer to have it condensed in one place (which you can then safely ignore without mising much)? Actually, I like Westy's suggestion. I was thinking the exact same thing earlier (only about the slow play, not about the rangefinder stuff, but I guess it might make sense there as well).

On a more serious note, I think it would make sense to pin the rolling threads. That way even forum newbies are aware of them right away, people who like to post in them regularly will find them more easily and people who like to ignore them will find that easier as well when they are always in the same place. Alternatively, we could have a rolling threads subforum (is it possible to have a sub-subforum or folder inside the Lounge subforum?)

I can't recall me saying that there were a lot of threads about blogging

Ummm... you struggling with this concept? The topic is rolling threads... why would you have a rolling thread about a non popular topic... it would not roll...

This did make me laugh though as a forum member pointed out to me the other day that this is your usual patter.... Say something dumb, have someone call you on it and then claim you never said "exactly" that. I had not noticed before and than you came with that exact sp.

Because we have a number of people on here with blogs and thought it would be a good subject to have a rolling thread about - The Secret Golfer is new one with a blog , then we have Swanny who is doing one and updating it regualry , believe Fish has one plus there is prob a number of other ones.

I can post a few links to a few of the threads to help you out as you seem to be struggling

I think rolling threads can fullfill two functions. One is to prevent the forum from being scattered with too many threads on the same or a very similar issue (like the "I played today" or the "What I bought today" threads). But it can also make sense to have a rolling thread that actually collects information which might be of interest to look up all on one place. Under that aspect it would make sense to have a rolling thread about blogs where all the links to the forum members who do blog can be found and new posts can be announced in a central place. That way, if someone is looking for golf blogs by forum members, they can all be found in one place. That works best if (like I suggested earlier) the rolling threads are also pinned, so that they don't get lost if they have no been posted to in a few days.

Is it that you are thick or is it that you think everyone else is?

I honestly can't see what your problem is

Someone started a thread with suggestions of what subject can be used for rolling threads and I suggested maybe blogs

You appear to have an issue with that and using it to throw cheap digs and insults at me

I would suggest the problem is firmly with you

Exactly that - thank you

Good to see someone can judge the post without any agenda attached to it
