Robotic Links

I needed to look up details of a golf club located more than hours drive from where I live. Now on my facebook page I am getting details of events in that region.

Robots are a long way from being human. Would you bother to advertise your local business to a one day visitor?

Eh ? Sorry but is it links course ? What is it you are asking as the thread title seems confusing compared to the content of what you seem to be asking ?!

It's just the way FB uses it algorithms. It monitors what you've been looking at on the net and then targets adverts based around that.
Trying looking at something you don't normally (say fishing rods?) and then watch the fishing adverts start popping up.
There are settings and ways to prevent a lot of that from happening, but it's easier to just google it rather than me explain it here.

LP, he means the 'robotic links' used by FB to track what you're doing online and show you related content.

As Lazkir says, hence my posting it in Out of Bounds and not the lounge.

When I worked in sales we used to call it 'shotgun advertising'. You hope you spread it wide enough to catch a few.
