Surprised no one has mentioned his fantastic effort, problems with his visa
No time to see the course but shoots a one under par 70 to be in 10th place :D :D :D marvellous effort.

Agreed. He's got one of those faces you'd like to punch, but a fantastic round of golf. And his putt on the last was the icing on the cake. He must be made up!

Agreed.

Absolutely incredible effort considering he'd never seen the course and how "tricked up" US Open courses generally are.

I wonder what the reaction of people who've had umpteen hours practising on the course was.......

Well, Donald for one... He'd been around the course a few times in the last few weeks, although to be fair to him the wind was a lot stronger for Luke than it was for Rock.

As much as I dislike him, he has done well. he isnt a big hitter so will be interesting when they start stretching the holes a little today with pins in harder positions. Big well done for the effor though, he must have had a hell of a sleep on the plane.

It did remind me of when John Daly won the USPGA.He got in as a reserve, drove through the night, no practice on the course, and won comfortably.

It is all probably to do with low expectations. All of the worry about getting in to the country and over to the course probably left him little time and energy to start worrying about the course. Sometimes distration is a good thing.

Probably will struggle today once it has sunk in (although hopefully not).

Rob.

Wow, I almost sounded eductated there!

Saw him quality at Walton Heath. On the first of the new course he hits a nasty necky one which squirts right, leaving himself with 40 yards to the pin which he duly pitched in to start his afternoon round with an eagle 2.

Like him or not, that was impressive!

Matt

He has done extremely well, how ever you would fear that jet lag and everything else will take its toll. Hopefully it doesnt and he plays well for the 4 rounds.
