I know this has been discussed before, but I was watching the European Tour from Kuala Lumpur this morning and Robert Rock's caddie was lying down (as usual) on the last green lining up......a two footer for par. Should be banned. If a tour player needs assistance on a two footer, then he shouldn't be on tour. And please don't say it's a mental / confidence builder / touchy feely team thing. I hope the other guys take the -iss, because I would if I were in his three-ball.

It is also a major problem on the LPGA Tour. The alst Solhein Cup was a joke as the rounds were taking forever, in part due to the fact that players took an age working with their caddies to line up puts and even full shots.

+1 for the vote to ban this practice.

As I said last time this was discussed, ban caddies from the green. One of the players can take the flag out/ put it back. Caddies should be waiting on the way to the next tee to take the putter back.

there is something about him I dont like, he has a face you want to slap...maybe its the wuss floppy hair and the oh so trendy (sic) stubble - or the clothing thats a tad too tight for someoen who seems to have the propensity to turn porky...other than that cant think why i dislike him

He does have the sort of face you could bury a 9 iron into. I didn't like him at the Irish Open last year and have gone off him since he started pratting around with his caddy lining him up on the greens

Remind me never to get on your wrong side Homer, don't fancy eating any 9 iron :)

If hackers like me can drag a trolley around and play, why cant the pro's :D

I dont disagree with caddies being on the green and assisting the player in anyway the player sees fit, i would think their is quite a bit of pressure being on tour and fighting for you livelyhood however that said i think it is totally and utterly ridiculous that a player has himslef or the caddie lie in the green, yes get down and have a look but keep on your feet. Its totally disrespectful to those playing behind the clubs members and the greenstaff.

To a point I agree with you Screwback but if a Tour standard player can't line up a 3 foot putt without a caddie laying on the floor then there's something wrong somewhere isn't there?
FFS on a 2 footer there can't be much break that won't be taken away by hitting with pace at the hole - most of them do that on short ones anyway.
Imo it shows a real lack of confidence in your putting and your game in general.

I agree thats what i am saying i think you should be allowed to ask your caddie for advice but getting down on the green is taking it too far and as i said disrespectful to greenstaff and players.

He looks scarily similar to the slightly overweight and commendably lazy bloke who was in my division during basic training. He was a right snivelly idiot and our PT instructor HATED him. I'd love to see him treated in the same way as this guy was. At one point the PT instrucor chased him round the assault course threatening to play with his boobies as they were bigger than his wife's.

Someone should tread on his caddy's nuts whilst he's laying on the floor - would be hilarious and he wouldn't do it again in a hurry.
