On golfing trip to France, arranged to play Golf D'Omaha Beach this afternoon. Arrived an hour or so early to get a spot of lunch and hit a bucket of balls before playing. Paid 182€ for three green fees, stroke saver and range card....

The weather was terrible, absolutely chucking it down in howling winds. Had lunch whilst watching the rain, eventually decided to gear up and go to the practice range despite no respite with the weather...... Bags and clubs totally soaked through before we walked to the range...... First problem, ball machine won't accept the card - says it's empty......the greens we can see are all flooded, the bunkers are a foot deep in water, the rain is sheeting down, we're already sopping and haven't even made the first tee. Decide to call it head back to the shop (not something I do easily - has to be real bad for me to cry off)....... the shop staff agree conditions are unplayable...... And then refuse to refund any money....

Totally disgusted with their attitude, the reason they gave was that they are only there for the season, so no refunds....

It's a shame because the course looked like it should be so nice, but if any of you are considering playing here, recommend you look elsewhere.

To the mods - I realise that this could be on the review page, perhaps should be there after, but want as many of you to see this, which may not be likely on the review page......

Id be looking for the manager, i wouldnt accept that , even in France that has to be against the sale of goods act , once the staff agreed it was unplayable , plus no balls at the range & they selling the use of them , thats disgraceful

if you just walk in yourself tough, if they agree its unplayable THEY are not providing YOU or in a position to provide you with the service you purchased ..

easiest way out for them was to tell you the course was open , up to you if you choose not to play..

Got to agree, if they say that it is unplayable, then they are stopping you from playing. I dont see how they could actually refuse the refund.

I'd be making a fuss to the manager, their manager and whoever I could. Negative publicity is a big thing for these places so I'd be telling them you'd be putting it all over the net.

Exactly what I told them. I'm not gonna drive two hours each way to the course, pay that sum of money and not play without good reason..... If anyone has any other ideas as to where I can post this, grateful to hear them...

So it's chucking it down & the wind is howling, yet you decide to spend €182 on round of golf??
I would be wanting a refund if they agreed it was unplayable, but tbh I'd av checked the weather forecast before setting off to the & course thought better of it.

To be fair at that sort of money it maybe have been booked in advance and paid upfront.

I think I would have picked up a couple of drivers out of the rack and headed towards the door... Pretty sure I would be getting my money back pretty quick!

I actually feel like this is a crime, money taken and no goods received. Police would have been involved before I walked out without my card being refunded or I would have talked to my bank and got the money back before walking away.

Pretty sure you'd av ended up locked in a French police cell for theft of golf clubs.

Yeah me too but can't see it happening if you walk out with £500 worth of clubs under your arm.

If talking has stopped it would be a good chance to get it moving again. I spend a lot of time in France and would likely be with a family member who would speak fluently, if I have to chat to the Police to get my money back I am happy to. I do not want the equipment, I want my money back and do not mind being very clear on that point. I have a feeling the manager would be down before the Police were called....
