Playing today in a 4ball better ball, got into a little bit of trouble on the 11th hole (par 4) at my home course,my drive lay just behind a tree, already on 22 points (after 10 holes) I thought best option was to punch out a 4 iron and get the ball back into play,I caught the ball perfect but it was heading towards a small lake which splits our 5th/11th holes, infront of the lake was a flock of Seagulls the ball hit a seagull killing it instantly,my ball promptly stopped on the fairway,I played the ball from where it lay and made a 5,dont like to kill any animals/birds but unluckily for this bird, wrong place wrong time, anyone else ever killed a bird/animal whilst playing in a comp ??

Managed to hit a horse on its rump at Wimbledon Common once. The 5th there has a bridle path about 120 yards off the tee. I hit it a bit thin but as I was playing the shot a horse and rider trotted out. Ball met horse and I don't know who was more shocked, the horse or the poor woman riding it now trying to hold on as this thing bolted like it was going for the line in the Derby. Wasn't much I could do. I did shoot down to the bridlepath but the horse was miles away and both seemed none the worse so I carried on. Made par too

Back in the twenties some one hit and killed a hawk at my gc. It is stuffed, and mounted in a glass case in the club house, along with the ball that did the damage.

I guess a seagull would not look the part. Unless it was at lydd, and it was killed with a molitor.

Dont know what type of gull it was,but it wasnt one them big ugly things you see at the seaside, this one was all white about the size a crow ?? the ball that killed was a titleist NXT Tour..
Still feel guilty..

Was playing at Handsworth a cracking Old Course in Birmingham with a work colleague who is a member there and he hit a 3 wood approx 2 feet off the deck straight into a flock of Canada Geese - all we saw from the tee was some feathers in the air and some angry geese. He had hit one square in the breast and killed it.

Next thing we heard was the greenkeeper behind us saying do you want to do it again those bleeders are ruining the greens.

Was hitting balls on the practise area earlier this year and hit a blackbird, the practise area was about 400 yds long and 250 wide and I managed to hit the only bird in the field! Felt kinda bad when I walked down the field and realised it was a blacky and not a craw.

Said to the wife when I got in- that's the only black bird I've ever nailed

When I was a member at Portal I thinned my second shot into the 4th green.

Looking for my ball in the bank at the back of the green.

I found it at the entrance to a rabbit hole, just in front of the rabbit it killed.

The bugger must have been sat laughing at my thin only to get killed by it.

That's golf.

Cheers

Steve...

During a medal earlier this year i hit a Jackdaw plub on the head. It was sitting on a small mound left of the first green at Tain i didn't see it but my playing partners were killing themselves. You play from below the level of the green and its slightly a blind shot, it knocked my ball onto the green and was staggering around for a good few mins, quite funny.
