Rip-offs? - let's hear about 'em.

Inspired by my necessity to buy a new watch strap earlier, I got to thinking that there are certain goods and services where someone is making a disgustingly large profit by what is nothing sort of legalised highway robbery.

Two miniscule slivers of leather in Debenhams - that'll be £40 quid, sir! and that was one of the cheapest I could find. I have searched the catch with an electron microscope expecting to see hallmarks aplenty but there are none. No, it appears that I have purchased about five inches of pretty thin brown leather with a material value of approximaterly tuppence ha'penny for £40 squiddly diddlys!!!

There are many others similar scams out there that are just as bad, but rather than hog the floor I'll hand it over to the collective...

Did you look on ebay? I got a watch strap on there and at a good price.
 
£4 for a golf magazine that promised it could fix my slice.
 
Holiday companies.

We've just booked a week in Tenerife for 7nights and the cost was £1500. If we want to go for 14 nights, it was only another £400.

Id have thought that been as the flights will be a fixed cost. The increased holiday length is always going to make the holiday cheaper the Longer you stay.

You should have booked for 14nights,then you could have posted in the Bargains thread. 😁
 
12.5% service charge on a half a coke and prawn sandwich at a well known chain of hotel and golf courses.... they only had to walk 7 metres to bring me the sandwich, hardly worth the SC (which the reciept said was discretionary but you only get that once you have given them the money and the till is shut)

Or especially awful when the tickets are advertised as free, but you have to pay £1 for the privileged of them emailing you so that you can print them out yourself at home .
