Got charged 340 GBP today to have our new LPG range cooker connected to gas bottles outside, paid for labour and switch over gubbins outside and bits of pipe. Guy managed to screw up one of the jets as part of the conversion so has to come back when new bit is delivered from manufactures .
This for a cooker which was 3 weeks late

HiD informs me one of her staff was charged 900 GBP to move a gas meter 3 foot !!!

We had same cost to move our gas meter but not only £900 quid it took 3 home visits by different departments around 14months in fact it very nearly got to the stage of HID giving up on the conservatory she'd always wanted because of the hassle with the gas meter!

Still trying to get Scottish Power to explain to me why they are having me pay £240 a month for my gas and electricity (3 bed Edwardian semi and no - I'm not growing illegal stuff in the loft). Privatisation of the utilities - was always going to be a Tory con to line the pockets of the institutions, the stocks and shares portfolio wealthy and the investment (b)*ankers.

And so to today we're all getting screwed over by them - to the extent that we have the absurd situation where the public purse is having to help pensioners and those on low or no pay to heat and light where they live. Briilliant! just Brilliant!

That's extortionate!
I'm in a 1930's 3 bedroom semi, and we pay £130 a month dual fuel to British Gas ( and we're in credit at that! )

We did pay £90 a month to Scotish Power for the same type of house, but are now down to £60 after a winter using a multi fuel burner.

Yes, eye watering the cost to move a gas meter a few feet... Down here only Transco can do it so having a monopoly they take advantage some what... My builders had to do all the digging etc and all the Transco bods did was cut the pipe relocate the meter and rejoin the pipe... About 90mins in total if I remember correctly... About a tenner a minute... Not bad...

Ok -so they move me to a different 'product' and my payment drops to £200 a month. I'm told I must be burning the midnight oil all over the place.

I'm also beginning to wonder whether using my house power cables for my broadband networking is actually burning up power - rather than just acting as wires for my internet connection :(

Count yourself lucky mate, I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, got a letter from NEDL yesterday saying my monthly bill is rising from £110 to £160 a month thanks to some changes they've made.
Raging does not come close to how I felt.

Gotta watch supplier switching when you go onto some of the special fixed period products - they'll charge a cancellation fee. I think this is what they are doing with their new best value products - get you on one and it 'ties' you to them as a supplier. My supplier hasn't charged me anything swithching products - though if I'd known I could have saved myself £150 by switching 3 months ago m:(
