2016 takes a another.

Of all artists I have loved over the years LC has stayed with me the longest, I don't have all his albums but I do have an awful lot of them.

I am very glad I managed to see him on his last tour.

Is it a touch ironic that it's not long after Trump becomes POTUS elect?

Democracy Has Come to the USA!

Many of his lyrics (and his delivery!) were 'songs to commit suicide to', but his more memorable ones were/are epic!

He also had an interestingly broad view towards religion, spirituality and death!

Another sad, sad day. I have most of his music playing in the soundtrack to my childhood. My old man used to spend all weekend playing albums by Leonard Cohen or Gordon Lightfoot. I can still remember most of the words to a song when it (too infrequently) comes on the radio. My daughter is even named after one of his songs!

Going to be a day for lots of Cohen on the Sonos.

And for respite, Anne Murray or Bachmann-Turner Overdrive? Until Bryan Adams came along!

Btw. 'A toast to those who like to hear a D18 play Lightfoot clear'!

Very sad news indeed.

My older brothers had "Songs of..." in 1970 and played it a lot. The songs just got into my head and are still there in every word and guitar figure to this very day.

Hearing them today has brought back so many memories.

Bought his albums in the 70's, so him live in Norwich and he was brilliant - think it was about 1979. There was an excellent tribute programme on BBC4 last night.
