RIP John Miles

I didn't know the name, I'm not great on music, so Googled him and played his big hit, Music. I recognised it instantly, a big number, classicly 70's, and still gets a regular play on R2.

Sorry to hear the news MiB.

For those (of a certain age) who don't think they know John Miles, you have probably heard this;

Or this;

He went on to be Tina Turner's musical director on her tours where I had the pleasure of seeing him, and played on her studio albums. He also worked with Jimmy Page & Joe Cocker. A very talented multi instrumentalist & vocalist.

RIP John, thanks for the memories & my condolences MIB.

He got a mention on the Ken Bruce show this morning, after Pop Master, and Ken played High Fly as they had apparently played Music fairly recently. A little later he played The Best by Tina Turner; I'd like to think it wasn't a coincidence.

KB plays Music quite often. We have R2 on in the factory at work and whilst I was not familiar with John Miles the name I instantly knew and recognised the song Music from being played on his show. KB plays a good selection of songs from different decades and this is definitely on the list quite often. I was pleased to hear this one this morning, he was clearly more than a one song guy and this was a nice touch by KB.

Those two songs seem to be the only ones you hear.
My personal favourite is "Pull the damn thing down". Great comment about society, and fabulous ending solo.
