RIP Graham Taylor

A shame. England was not right for him but he came across as a very decent man outside of that and I liked him as a summariser on the radio. Had a fine managerial career at club level.

Worked with him at a non-league friendly he brought his Watford team too. Really genuinely nice guy who had time for everyone.

He was a real gentleman.

We parked a minibus in a coach park opposite the ground and saw him by the ticket offices, he stood with a group of us asking us about our players and team totally unhurried even though it was match day.

He never deserved the abuse he got from the media.

How fitting it is that Wolves & Villa play each this weekend.

I'm sure the fans will join together thanking his contributions to both.

Would be nice to see them stand as one for him.

And this ^^.

RIP.

Very sad about this, as he was my first idol manager growing up and going to The Vic in the 1980s. He was a brilliant club manager and it never worked out for him as England manager, like so many we could mention. The great thing is that he never let that experience bother him, particularly from the vitriolic press. He was the same before, during and importantly after....funny, insightful, knowledgeable and importantly, respectful.

EJTMA.

One of the good guys. I remember him bringing his Lincoln side to Elm Park in 1976. They won the championship that season, and we're a really strong team. physical and direct, no real stars, but played for each other.

Imagine there will be a minutes silence or applause at tonight's game.

I am so sorry to hear this. Football won't really be the same without him. We have lost a good man today. RIP

Very sad news and a man who never recovered from the mauling the press gave him over the England role but one that as a club manager did brilliant things and with Watford something unlikely to be done again going from the bottom division to the top one in five seasons.

Even when he left the game he never lost his enthusiasm and was always a voice of reason when he did some TV or radio analysis and in my opinion should have been allowed to do more of this

I was a Watford supporter when Graham Taylor was their manager and they went from the 4th Division to runners up in the old 1st Division (equivalent to the Premier League now). All done on a relatively shoestring budget as well, and many of the players were local lads, unlike the International superstars in the top English clubs these days. He was a truly great club manager, even though less successful as England manager. A sad loss! ☹️

The first England manager I remember getting undue stick was Bobby Robson, but with GT they took it to another level, and possibly not even "bettered" since. They really went after him, which was shocking.

I remember watching Watford on Midweek sports night special (possibly in the UEFA cup) and what a dream to go from the old fourth to Europe, what a journey. Never a great fan of their football at the time, but to fair with Barnes and Blissett they also played some lovely stuff on the ground also.

RIP Watford's greatest servant.
