Sad news. http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/news/newsid=197228.html

Had the pleasure to know him a little and share a few meals with and hear some of his stories. He was, indeed, a true Gentleman.

One of his greatest pleasures was simply hitting balls and it was great to watch him swing smoothly to put the ball 2 feet from the pin on a couple of holes on the course that bears his name!

The tough Par 3 'Manor Course' at Foxhills, venue of the original Wee Wonders run by a later Pro there, was Bernard's creation and something he was particularly proud of. That, at a company away day, was my first encounter with Golf in UK.

Sad news. As a lad I remember him as a stalwart of the British golf scene and the Ryder Cup.

Makes me think back to the days of Penfold Aces, Stylo Matchmakers and Slazenger jumpers.
