Rik Mayall dies

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

Sad news for his family and friends. The man was hilarious in the young ones, bottom, new statesmen etc.

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

wow. genuinely shocked, a true innovator and boundary pusher of comedy. Bottom and the young ones were/are up there in my all time favourite comedies.

RIP Rick.

Rik Mayall RIP

Such a shame. Loved him in the Young Ones, and great as Lord Flasheart in Blackadder.

Whoops just noticed other thread. Mods please delete. Thanks

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

I first saw him as Kevin Turvey- his 'Kevin Turvey behind the green door' comedy I saw as comic genius and appealed to all my humour buttons, a long time ago now.

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

Desperately sad. My favourite was Alan B'stard, was billed as a comedy but was of course a documentary.

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

Very sad news - the Young Ones were truly legendary!
A Comic Genius..

Will have to console myself with a pint of HIM!!! Huzzah Huzzah!!!!

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

Summer is a bummer.

The Young Ones was kind of my generations Monty Python, and it's weird how many lines from the show I still use in everyday conversation without realising it. Many thanks to him for making my childhood a better experience.

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

And the grown-ups will say "But why are the kids crying?"
And the kids will say "Haven't you heard? Rik is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

(nicked from somewhere else, but worth repeating) RIP

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

a real shame, a great comedian.

my fav memory or his as as Lord Flashart in Black Adder 2.

" she's got a tongue like an electric eel, and she likes the taste of a mans tonsils"

Re: Rik Mayall - RIP

RIP one of the funniest men to grace our screens.
Still watch The Young Ones and the New Statesmen laughing like a fool.
A very sad day indeed.
