Cannot find my original thread about this.

Thought I would post some of my stats so took some pics at my latest lesson.

Wont let me post the pic so here goes , all with a 7 iron.

club speed - 84.2mph
smash factor - 1.36
ball speed - 114.02 mph
carry - 166 yds
total dist - 176 yds
Back Spin - 4926 rpm
Side Spin - -692 rpm

Hit - Mid Centre
attack - 3.3 down
face to target - 4.8 open

Some of the most frequent comments on my previous post were about lack of distance, but I am happy with these numbers. I don't want to hit a 7 iron any further really.

Looking like some good distance numbers and I have read your thread with curiosity more than anything.

One thing that stands massively out for me which does not really add up. Your hitting down on the ball with a nice angle plus the good clubhead speed but that backspin number just strikes me as being way way to low. As a general rule my coach told me to try to obtain 1000 revs of spin against the iron number as a good base (give or take few hundred) so you should be a lot closer to 7000rpm with that 7 iron. I would have though stopping the ball at the other end would be a little issue with that distance + the low spin (great for driver though if it follows that trend)

Would be interested to hear your thoughts, maybe you just used a less premium ball for the testing?

Honestly have no thoughts , other than I will ask Kirky next week when I see him. We have never discussed this and I am just reading the numbers off my pic (went back and checked them!)

In reality I hit the ball very high and generate a fair bit of check. Which is why I tend to ignore total distance and focus on carry.

We were using Callaway Chrome Soft and Pro V1 balls.

These numbers are an average of the lesson, if I give it some beans then 90 Mph is in there, but how often should, or do, you swing full out?

Did you mean to write side spin "minus 692 rpm"? Minus means it's spinning to the left.

Interesting numbers. How was the ball flight. As long as it's going consistently on target then I'd not worry too much about the numbers as long as you are controlling flight and shape. Did they say anything about the open face to target?
