I'm having trouble getting my right elbow in front of my right hip at impact. I've tried and tried to get it in front but its just isnt happening. the result is i struggle to get shaft lean at impact because my right elbow is still at my side. I'm starting to think there's a bigger force in play stopping this from happening as i can usually change and alter my swing at will.

an ideas folks

the ball in my photos isn't as far back in my stance as appears. my friend was stood slightly in front of me

Certainly seems to be an early release happening!

Try 'locking' the wrists for as long as possible - even completely, with a slow-mo swing. Some one-handed (especially 'left-hand-only') swings - until connection is crisp - on the range could encourage later release too.

No concrete answer but maybe hips turning too early? That would prevent your elbow coming through if the hips block the way.

I was once told to feel that the downswing is arms first. It doesn't really happen but it helped get hands/arms in place before turning through.
