This is a video I took today on our 4th. I was trying to drop the ball straight down but I guess my arm was moving a little. Couldn't re-take it as the group behind were walking up the fairway. You get the idea anyway.

I also laid my phone on the green next to the hole on the spirit level app and the hole is cut on a 3° slope.

Thoughts? Is it unfair, or am I over reacting?

How big is the green and how much green was behind the pin ?

Does look very quick and brutal

Hard to tell from the vid. As long as it doesn't come back to you if it rolls up that slope.

Quick, difficult yep. Unfair - not sure

The green is about 35 yards long and this is maybe just over halfway back. The edge the ball rolls to is the right edge.
It's around 15 yards wide (guessing) and the hole is about 10' from the right edge.

I would say it's impossible to play an approach that finishes on the green to the right of the hole. It's also impossible to putt from the centre of the green and stop the ball if it goes even a few inches past the hole.

Although the video doesn't show it, putting from pin high in the middle of the green the putt has about 2-3' of break.

Hope you didn't leave that pitchmark there ! ;)

No, just had time to get it before the group behind reached their balls.

There were loads unrepaired today, very saddening. Maybe people think it doesn't matter because they're starting maintenance on them tomorrow.

We had one pin position half way up the slope of a two-tier green last week, and another one near the front of a green where it slopes quite steeply downhill. I can only think that our green keepers must have got out of bed on the wrong side that morning! :(

We had similar a couple of years ago, very quick greens and some very difficult pin positions, a lot of complaints, we now have a pin placement committee or similar.
i did understand some of the complaints, mainly being that higher handicappers had an advantage by laying up and chipping onto the green.

Our 16th is like that regardless of where the pin is, must slope 3ft back to front
i hit a shot Saturday over the pin to the back edge, 12ft to the hole, barely nudged it and it ran off the front 20 ft past
par is a great score there.

ps it's a par 3 over water

Hard to tell, but looks nasty.Dont mind tough pins if fair, you hit a good high second in and still don't have a change, then a bit un fair.
