!st round complete.

Only real surprise is that Michelle Wie is +3 - oh and the leading 2 or 3 are not 'the usual suspects'!

Morgan Pressel does seem to like links courses though!

Lewis is hanging around ( if she has finished by now )

Hull not too far of the pace - wind supposed to pick up tomorrow and over the weekend

If it does it's going to be carnage!
With a slight breeze they were losing balls in the rough and racking up a multitude of doubles!

Only supposed to be 5mph today - 10 tomorrow and sat and the Sunday around 30mph !!

I was up there the other week , the rough looked brutal , we have one of our club young ladies playing in the event , Georgia Hall is at +1 and in 24 position , seen her down the range and watch her practice , I even got a few tips watching her and she explained what she was doing , great talent and is a elite player at the club and we have a fund to assist her make the grade , members can donate and many have , will watch how she gets on ......................EYG

Its the short hitters that are doing better, hitting more fairways and staying out of he straw, I think Wie only hit a handful of fairways!

I learned loads watching some of this last night.

Don't hit it in the rough
Don't hit it in the rough
Don't hit it in the rough
Don't hit it in the rough

It's not so much so much hitting fairways - Wie hit 7 compared to 9 from those near the top. But it's certainly a case of staying out of the straw - so GIR is possible. Wie only hit 50%, so did well to 'only' be +3. (Short hitting) Mo Martin showed how to do it though!

Well I just watched the American golf channel and they just did a full run down on the top few leaders who are all predominately short hitters compared to others that would be 'expected' to be higher, I think I'll take their professional view on it rather than yours, personally :smirk:

Brilliant from Petterson on the 17th(?) yesterday penalty shot for the ball moving after she'd addressed her eagle putt and still had the focus to drain the 30+ footer for birdie!

Not many under par. I think the rough has been quite testing for some of them. The course is looking lovely mind you.

i had a peak this lunch time and to be brutal the ones i watched were like Sunday hackers,is it just me that thinks this set up is to much for the ladies.

I was there in June and the rough was quite bad , if they get a bit of wind look out , most are use to modern courses , big wide fairways , just bomb it down there then hit the green and its a putting contest , the winner will have to play well and need some luck ................EYG

Hi can anyone tell me where best to park and what the car parking costs for the ladies open this weekend?

had a look on the website and unfortunately it's as good as a chocolate fire guard

cheers MattMatt

I went today, was shocked at how narrow it has been set up. The girls were certainly struggling, hard fairways and greens with thick rough makes it incredibly tough. Made me realise that in no way will I be paying £75 next week, live golf spectating is just a waste of time IMO. The only bonus this week is there is a bit of totty on view.
