Just looking a various websites and YouTube, and you often see Rickie larking about being himself in the background.

I find his personality very good for the game as it seems to inspired a young following.

But, does anyone else feel that his "clowning around" attitude could be a hindrance when it comes to his performance?

don't think he's good enough, the boys got talent, don't know how hard he works at it, or how bad he wants it.

I cannot say one has anything to do with the other mate! He will win again for sure, the lad has skills, but I don't think his "clowning around" attitude has anything to do with his current form.

He's young. It's rare that someone of his age comes on tour and cleans up. He's done well to achieve what he has achieved already and I dont think his personality has been a hindrance.

Can't see him going down in the record books but theirs no doubting his ability. Reckon Cobra & his other sponsors are chucking money at him as his image will appeal to the younger golfers.

If I could be mediocre and still have earned 1.2million dollahs so far this year in prize money alone, I dont think Id be too worried, more wins will come so its not as if every comp counts.
More and more of these guys target the majors and forego weeks of potential wins just to try and be prepared for those 4 weeks per year.

I like Fowler, he is one of my favourite USGA players. Yes he is a fantastic poster man for Puma/Cobra and as said before he has got a lot of younger golfers into the game. Tiger done this back in the late 90's and I think McIlroy has done this as well.

I would like to see Fowler win a few more events, he was right in the mix at the US Open but had a mare on the last day. He tends to do this sometimes.

With regards to his antics, I think that is him down to a T. Just watch the Golf Boys video :)

Surely attitude is more important than personality? I wish more players had Rickie's personality instead of this scared to offend, beige, robotic, media savvy type that seems to be the blueprint nowadays. I am sure this is not the personality of the golfer but it seems to be there public image anyway.

Lee Trevino won 6 majors and he was fond of a joke or two.

To answer the Fowler question, I think his attitude is good enough, he has the talent all he lacks is a bit of conviction on and around the greens. He does have a good win under his belt and it wont be his last.

I always thought John Eldridge came across very well, granted he played at a time when footballers were people that were good to know, and certainly wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Faldo!
