Rick Shiels & Peter Finch....Gentlemen!

I treated my Dad and my 6yr old daughter to a day at St Andrews yesterday, as she has started swinging a club and yesterday was a rare opportunity to see some of the greats in the Champions Challenge.

As we were walking past the PGA tent I spotted Messrs Shiels and Finch busy on their laptops. The very friendly concierge invited us in where I approached the lads to say hello.

They could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They made Abigail feel very special when they heard that she had just hit her first driver shot that morning (in the simulator...45yds !), they thanked me for watching their vids and posed for a great photo.

All in all they helped make our day. That on top of Gary Player signing Abigail's cap, Carly Booth posing with her for a photo and Keegan Bradley giving her one of his logo' ed Srixon Z Stars.

Me ? I witnessed Tiger birdie the Road Hole. Nuff said.

Sounds like an awesome day that your daughter will surely never forget!

Cant wait to start getting my son interested in some of my interests when he's a little older. Sadly for him that'll mean watching Leeds week in week out or watching dad wing it round the golf course!

But seriously, she was great with the little 'un. Very excited and supportive that another girl was starting to play golf

It didn't help though that Abigail let out a loud "Who's she?" when Carly was only two steps away haha

Yep, I think she is a very cool lady with a great swing. Always seems warm on social media but never replies to anything on fb.


PS I posted this on Rick and Pete`s Fb and they gave it a big thumbs up.

During the rain delay on Saturday, Abigail and I watched Finch's recent St Anne's course vlog with Carly Booth.
Her face was a picture when she realised she had actually met people the people on the telly !!

Just seen on fb/Twitter that Shiels and Finch have asked their followers whether they should both try to qualify for The Open 2016...which there is a unanimous yes vote for!

Would you all like to see them play at Troon? I would!

Heck yes, but thats not an easy target!

Would love to see them compete...especially up here, as we would deffo be there supporting them. I think it will be a challenge as with their Youtube/Teaching demands it will take some effort to play sufficient competitive golf to make it.
I may however be doing them a complete disservice.
It would make for great viewing watching them prep and hone their game throughout. I hope it happens, I hope they succeed.
