2016 you utter utter hateful year
Rick Parfitt of Status Quo has died in Spain after a long history of heart problems

Another 2016 victim ;(

One of my all time heroes has died

RIK PARFIT of legendary band STATUS QUO has died in spain .
one of my all time favourite bands and now 2016 claims yet another icon of rock.
RIP RIK :(

Saw them on BBC News a couple of weeks ago and Rossi was saying they didn't want to say anything about it except that Rick was poorly.

Sad news indeed!
:(

My first ever memories of head banging was to the Quo. Denim jacket (Wrangler) and flared jeans. One of my childhood idols gone but not forgotten.

Thanks for the memories boys.

What dreadful news. Saw Quo in 1975 when they were at the top of their game. A gig I will never forget.
RIP Rick Parfitt and thank you for all the pleasure you gave to a young man obsessed with rock music.

Saw Quo 5 times in total, never will forget the spotlights coming on and theres Rick Parfitt belting out the opening bars of Caroline.
Happy memories

I first saw QUO back about 1970 then again a couple of times a few years back, they were so good and I'm really sad that Rick has gone.

BIM saw them only a couple of weeks ago he'll be upset too

Not wrong there my friend, saw them on the 11th. Not quite the same without Rick Parfitt opening up with "Caroline". Probably well into double figures if I totalled the times I've seen them. Always produced the goods, never sold the fans short, proper entertainers of the old school. I wonder if he was worse than was being let on as Francis Rossi made no reference to him at any point in the show.

RIP Rick and thanks for the bloody good memories.

Proper shame. Expected that he might have suffered another heart attack, but it seems that a hospital infection was the root cause of this tragedy. 2016 has taken an awful toll on so many.... :(

I thought it was strange there was no reference to Rick when I saw them the day after you. 2016 continues to be a crap year.:(

I saw them support Queen at Knebworth in 86. I didn't know much about them then but they were brilliant. To be fair, he abused his body so did well to reach 68 but by crikey he lived a very full life and made people smile. That's a decent epitaph.

RIP Rick, saw Quo more times than any other band (8 times). Got the Live at the NEC CD belting out of my speakers at the moment, a show in 1982 that I was lucky to be at.

Going to a Quo concert in the late 70s and early 80s was unlike any experience before or since. Even before the gig the atmosphere was great, like a football crowd but all on the same side, Quo-o-o-o-oh. Great memories.

One of their best had to be at the old Wembley Stadium as support to Rod Stewart; two sets of die hard fans with little time for the other act, yet by the end of the evening, both sets of fans had more than a grudging respect for the other band. Two old school British acts on the same bill, something you won't see the like of outside a festival these days. Fantastic evening.

Always had a soft spot for Quo, the early/mid 1970s albums have some real musical moments from a talented group of musicians, those were the Quo I liked best before they turned into a sort of parody of themselves later on which people are more familiar with.

RIP Rick, came across as a thoroughly nice fellow.

The first time I saw them they were the headline act of 3 bands at the Least Cliff Hall Folkestone and everything was running late. They came on about 11pm and told us that they would do their gig in full and would ignore instruction to finish at 12pm as we'd all waited for them.

Everything was rocking until the police turned up with dogs, they turned off the instruments and escorted all 1100 of us out of the hall. I next saw them the first time they returned - about 30+ years Later!
