I'm hoping to be officially retired by this time tomorrow evening.

Any advice on what to fill my time with apart from golf?

Any dress code I should adhere to?

Fly fishing!

Man I wish I could retire... still got about 30 years of hard graft ahead. Unless them lotto numbers come in ;)

Golf, gardening, hill/dog walking, and grandkids keep me pretty busy.
I do voluntary work half a day a week teaching gardening skills to primary children.

I hope you have prepared as it can come as quite a shock to many.
Best advice is to do something that you have always wanted to do but never had the time and to do.
Could be cooking, art, music, cycling. For example my Mrs spends hours each week researching her family history on t' interweb. She also enjoys photography and gardening.
Opportunity in Retirement offer loads of courses and meeting groups.

I have only worn a jacket and tie about four times in the last 8 years so dress code is great. Golden rule is that if you buy something new you have to throw the old one out, so keep your wardrobe skinny and current.
Careful not to drink too much many fall into that trap by default. Keep fit and don't overeat.

We celebrated my mum's 89th birthday the other day and she is as fit as a flea. She was always active, still riding a bike in her 80's. so be prepared financially for a longer than expected retirement!!

Good luck and enjoy.

Seriously? your not old so either you are independantly wealthy or part of the emergency services?

whatever you are retiring from I'm jealous.........good luck

The biggest & most debillitating spin-off with retirement is boredom.
I tried 'retirement' in 2009 but managed to spend far too much money far too quickly ......................... and I might live another 30yrs, but it's the boredom that gets you, it's awful.
So, keep busy. Learn to play guitar or take up flyfishing as Vice suggested.
I'm very envious ................ enjoy!

Slime.

As I said earlier it can come as quite a shock to some.
Divorce /alcoholic/heart attack materiel for many.
You really have to plan ahead

I took early retirement aged 55.
Worked f/t in hobby jobs for three years, then cut down to 3 days for a couple of years and finally 2 days for another couple of years.

No word from OP..........bad news or still hungover?
